In 2005, to celebrate their 75th anniversary Maserati created the Birdcage 75th. This is a 39-inch tall, one-off show car with a low and slippery body by Pinifarina and futuristic state-of-the-art computerized electronics by Motorola. It was first introduced to the world at the 2005 Geneva International Automobile Show.
On this car, the entire top – the dark smoked glass section – is transparent providing the driver with excellent visibility. It lifts up on hydraulic arms so that the driver and passengers can gain entrance to the vehicle. Looking down on the car peering through the glass, one can see much of the car’s pushrod suspension and much of its 700+ horsepower, V12 engine. Most of the car’s bottom section is constructed of very lightweight carbon fiber.
The rear of the vehicle is characterized by its deep diffuser and active aero panels, which raise and lower to maintain stability at high speeds. For more information try Googling this car. This is a dynamic looking car from all angles.
