2012 Touring Superleggera Disco Volante

Итальянское кузовное ателье Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera привезет на Женевское моторшоу концептуальный спорткар Disco Volante 2012 Concept, название которого переводится как «летающая тарелка».

В начале 50-х годов прошлого века ателье (оно тогда называлось просто Carrozzeria Touring) сотрудничало с компанией Alfa Romeo, разрабатывая серию прототипов для испытаний новых технологий, которые могли бы быть легко адаптированы для гоночных автомобилей. Одним из таких концептов был Alfa Romeo Disco Volante образца 1952 года, построенный на базе дорожного Alfa 1900, выпускавшегося в кузовах «купе» и «родстер».

C помощью Touring Disco Volante 2012 ателье Touring Superleggera воздает дань памяти купе 1952 года, но делает это не просто так – инженеры ателье принимали самое деятельное участие в создании той самой Alfa Romeo 60-летней давности. Как и тогда, современное прочтение Disco Volante будет построено на базе существующей модели Alfa Romeo с сохранением заводского силового агрегата, однако новинка будет отличаться экстравагантным ретро-дизайном. Обещано, кстати, что итальянские кузовщики построят новое купе практически вручную из алюминия и карбона.

Судя по всему, прототип получит подвеску с использованием двойных поперечных рычагов, дифференциал ограниченного трения, шестиступенчатую полуавтоматическую трансмиссию и 4,7-литровый 450-сильный силовой агрегат. Идеологический предок спорткара, Alfa Romeo 1900 1952 года, оснащался 160-сильным атмосферным двигателем.

В кузовном ателье заявили, что намереваются приступить к серийному производству Disco Volante 2012, однако серия будет крайне ограниченной.

Ателье Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera ранее также занималось созданием трехдверного универсала Bentley Continental Flying Star и дизайном немецкого суперкара Gumpert Tornante.

Usually, one-off concepts by designers or coachbuilders remain, well, very successful prototypes. Still, every now and then, some small company manages to get the needed support and embark on the long and perilous journey to production ready. This is what happened to last year’s concept Disco Volante.

Presented during the 2012 Geneva Motors Show as homage to the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante from the 1950s, the prototype made by Touring Superleggera was one of the more beautiful concepts at the show. This is why we are really glad to find that Alfa has officially endorsed the limited production run of the 2013 model.

The 2013 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring Superleggera has been changed very little, with the only noticeable modifications being the slightly different wing mirrors, and different headlights. Importantly, Alfa Romeo dealerships are qualified for maintenance and service of the car, while Touring Superleggera provides them with repair instructions and parts for the Touring-designed components and systems.

The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione chassis forms the basis for the coach-built bodywork of the Disco Volante, integrally conserving the rolling chassis and drive train. The frame members and the central carbon cell remained unchanged. A combination of aluminium and carbon fibre was used for the Disco Volante’s bodywork. Carbon fibre is used for specific components like the front bumper and grille, the bonnet, the side skirts, the boot lid and the integrated rear-window frame. The bonnet and boot lid are sandwich-built with Nomex filler to obtain a superior stiffness/weight ratio and to dampen vibration and noise.

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has recently added a fresh paint for the Disco Volante, which has been introduced at the 84th edition of the Geneva Motor Show.

One of the hottest vehicles, and also one of the most expensive ones, available for order these days, the Touring Superleggera Disco Volante, is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with its creators bringing it to the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, where the model in question has received a new paint. Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has also fitted this sports car with a gold, black and brown combination in the cabin, which are giving it a very refined look.

The new Touring Superleggera Disco Volante is actually based on the Alfa Romeo 8C and it has been produced by using a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber on specific components of its body. The 8C Competizione chassis is forming the basis for the coach-built bodywork. Power is being provided by a 4.7 liter V8 engine, which is producing a total output of 450 HP (331 kW) and 480 Nm (331 kW) of torque. The unit is sending power to the wheels through a 6-speed sequential transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 4.2 seconds and top speed stands at 290 km/h (181 mph).
