ARES DESIGN’s Project Wami is currently in the development stage but from its computer renderings and CAD design it’s clear to see that this will be one of the most enticing Roadsters ever made. It draws its design inspiration from the Frua-bodied Maseratis of the 1950s such as the 2000 Spyder. It has perfect proportions and appears both crisply tailored and boldly muscular and features plenty of lovely period detailing.
Project Wami will be constructed from a mix of hand crafted aluminium and carbon fibre. ARES has a wide range of experience with these materials thanks to its work on projects such as its delectable Bentley Mulsanne Coupe and the sublime Pantera. Project Wami takes many of its styling cues, such as the side exit exhausts, chromed front and rear bumper over riders and its wire wheels, from the 1950s Maserati designs.
Inside it’s a case of classically styled simplicity with a simple, unadorned central transmission tunnel, a metal dashboard and classic white on black dials which perfectly reflect the design of the original. The period style sports seats are upholstered in fine Italian leather courtesy of ARES DESIGN’s leather department and there’s plenty of milled aluminium and chrome detailing. When it comes to fruition Project Wami will be the finest bespoke Roadster and a true testament to ARES DESIGN’s painstaking eye for detail.
