Renault Debuts New Mobilize Brand With Tiny EZ-1 Electric Two Seater
Mobilize is the Renault Group’s new division dedicated to shared mobility and the mobility of the future. It has three objectives: to reduce the gap between car use and costs, as vehicles are currently unused 90% of the time. To improve the residual value of the vehicle, to contribute to the goal of zero CO2 emissions. It was in this context that the EZ-1 Prototype was developed, a two-passenger electric microcar designed from the ground up to be shared by users of the French group’s new service.
The vehicle is only 2.3 metres long and has a small footprint, and the battery pack can be easily replaced. The vehicle takes the concept previously developed by the Renault Twizy and projects it into the future: “Mobilize EZ-1 Prototype is a mobility device that merges with the city. Agile, dynamic and inclusive, it accompanies users in their lifestyle change towards a more efficient and responsible mobility”, says Patrick Lecharpy, head of Mobilize design.
The vehicle embodies the brand’s design vision: service at the heart of vehicle design. The Mobilize EZ-1 Prototype is a new urban mobility solution designed for shared use. As such, it will be marketed in an innovative way: users will only pay for what they use, in terms of driving time or mileage. The vehicle is connected: it has keyless access and interacts with users via their smartphone. The EZ-1 Prototype is reportedly made from 50% recycled materials and will be 95% recyclable at the end of its life cycle.
